Once you've selected your Twin, you'll have a cutscene which sets up the beginning of the game, after which you need to follow the marker to the first Statue of the Seven you see. At this point, you'll meet Paimon, your lovable/irritating companion throughout Genshin Impact. She'll explain a few elements of the Menus, and will continue to do so through the first ten minutes or so of the game.

In the Whispering Woods, you'll find a Crimson Crystal, which you can grab here. This completes the mini diversion and has you heading, once again, to Mondstadt.

Along the way you'll meet another companion: Amber. She's one of the weaker characters in the game once you level up enough to fill out your roster, but in the early stages her ranged attacks make her a great party member. You should switch to Amber at this point to practise her archery on any nearby enemies.

There's a Teleporter nearby, which Paimon will tell you to activate. At this stage, since you only have one active, it's useless, but setting them up will become much more important as the game goes on. You'll also want to clear out the bandit camp nearby; they're pretty weak, and Amber's range makes them an easy sweep.

From here, continue on to Mondstadt. Just before crossing the bridge, you should speak to the traveller at the cooking pot, as she will teach you how to cook and provide you with some ingredients. After this, cross the bridge and enter Mondstadt. Don't speak to Timmie on the bridge if you don't want to get bummed out; he'll tell you the pigeons flying away remind him of his father who abandoned him. Cheery.

In Mondstadt, there are a few vendors you can talk to, but there's not much point right now, since you won't have much to trade. Instead, head to the marker on the tower, activating another Teleporter on the way.

After a brief conversation, you'll unlock the gliding ability, and will need to use that immediately to glide back down to the entrance. Immediately after, you'll be tasked with fighting the Stormterror dragon, but this is a deceptively easy fight. The dragon never attacks you, so you just have to fly after it and shoot. Once the fight is over, you'll need to glide down to the Headquarters where you'll meet an array of characters, including Kaeya and Lisa, who both become playable by the end of the Prologue.
